About

This blog aims to help indie directors, producers and game developers who are inexperienced at working with composers to make the most out their collaboration by helping them navigate every step of a normal production. Consequentially, it will also contain useful advice for young composers.

The information posted here comes from the author’s own experience, online research and discussions with other professionals in order to ensure that you are getting the best possible information. Because the indie game and film industry varies so much from project to project and from team to team, it is impossible to account for every single experience out there.

So, when reading this blog, think of Captain Barbossa in Pirates of the Caribbean when he says “The code is more what you’d call ‘guidelines’ than actual rules”.

Last but not least, the author’s full time work is writing music. If you have any success story or know anyone who might be of interest to be interviewed for this blog, please use the e-mail icon on the top right corner to share it with João. Any recommendations or constructive criticism are appreciated!
